I personally think that Micheal Wesch's video was very intersting. It explained exactly what goes on in colleges or classes. I mostly agree with some of the signs that were being held up; like the ones saying that they sit in class not doing anything but signing in on facebook, when they are suppose to be working on class assignments and some people buy expensive textbooks that they never opened. This video to me was to let some of the students express what they do in classes half of time. I also agree when the sign that was being held up saying that students only get 7 hours of sleep and 3 of those hours on being on the computer.
My reactions to Michael Wesch, vision of students today was an interesting look. I was trying to figure out the key point to the video, and focusing on the facts they were portraying. Looking at the video, it made me wonder what next are they going to show; because i was tuned in to it. The first clip was a depressing look; I think that Michael Wesch was trying to tell us that if the walls can talk, what would they say; watching that first part had me thinking. It was almost like he wanted us to see beyond the college work, and see how the school its self is. I think he wanted to tell a story using the building and the students. The video portrays facts on every day a college student experience in life.
When I seen the students holding the sign of what he or she do. At first, I didnt understand the point of holiding the sign up. Watching the video furthur, I then realize that Michael Wesch wanted us to understand that in college people will face obstackles. The students hold up each sign expressing themselves as a student. One sign said that he or she paid alot of money for books and it was a waste of time; I would say, that is a typical thing college student goes threw. Another one said that she is an multitask worker, and she has to be; I said to myself, I wonder why she made that statement. Some students procastinate on work assignment, or any other important things that need to be done on a particular day. So, being multitask worker is wonderful, because in college being able to move around at a given pace, would accomplished so many things. In the video, it was said that college now depends on technology, and that it is the best way to get work done. One girl said, that she uses the facebook, to get work done. I believe at times technology would help; but not everybody has an computer to get to. Some students in the video said: that he or she bring their computer to class, to get class work done, but not everybody do what needs to be done. Watching the video was an interesting fact, that Mr. Wesch wanted to portary on an everyday life of a college student.
I think the video was an outlook on the everyday life of a college student. It showed how some students waist there time partying and on the web instead of studying. It showed how students buy books and supplies for class and don't even put them to use. I think most college students are lazy and irresponsible, they dont realize the Opportunity they are given. I think Mr. Wesch did a good job in portarying the basic college student. This video will open the eyes of alot of college students, hopefully they will realize the mistakes they are making now before its to late, because when its over, there will not be anymore chances.
I think that Micheal Wesch's video "A Vision of Students Today" was very interesting. It was very accurate and true for me. Most of the signs seemed to be negative in some way or another. I couldn't relate to some like the one about the average class size being 115, but i could relate to the one about being on facebook in class. This video showed some of the wastes of time as well as money that we partake in.
This video was very informative. It shows the things we have to deal with as college students. It lets my fellow college students know that they are not the only ones going through these types of situations, its happening all over America. The signs just brought this to life. One sign that caught my eye was the one that added up all of the tasks and it came up to 26.5 hours a day. Since there are only twenty four this means that things are running into each other. We have to multi-task to get things done.
I agree with Shanquell because there is a book that I paid over 100 dollars for and I only use it about once a week. The problem is that when I want to sell it back i wont get that much for it but they'll sell it to another student for a lot more that they bought it from me for.
Michael Wesch's video was very interesting and true. This video tells you about what college students do what their time. Several of the signs I could relate to. It shows that some college stidents do not do what they are suppose to do in class. Spend time on facebook, listening to ipods, and other distraction that force you to not pay attention.
With all of the distraction in college students are wasting their money by not reading a text book that they most likely spend over a hundred of dollars for. All of the activities added up to be over 26 hours a day since there is only 24 hours in a day many students should learn how to cutdown on ipods and facebook and organize for classes then do activities. I know that I need to organize on some of the stuff i do.
I think Michael Wesch's video was very interesting. As a college student,I can relaate to this video completely. They have tose student who pay and don't show up, or don't take advantage of the college opportunity. But , i feel like the girl who held up the sign that said her teacher's dont knoow her name , that's really not in their job.But it is hard to focus in classes over 100 teaching and learning .
Besides the stress of writing 10 pages on something you just read , there are other distractions;and other things that we want to do . There are electinics and friends .The whole video was on point to the problems we face, especially as freshmans. I can completely relate.
I agree with Keshawn who said there are distractions and other things we want to d ,but we have to distinguish what important . Don't spend hours on face book and can't type a paper.
The video was touching. It had expressed so real statements. At first I was thinking it was weird. When i was reading the statements,I notice that they were true. I could relate to mostly all of them. That was scarey. After watching the video it made me feel like there is a change need to be made. I shouldn't be a part of that group of people. I need to better myself and actually work on a better future. It was that video that I will be able to say opened my eyes! It is truely a shame that those statements was so true. Now my eyes are opened to the real world though!
I agree but at the same time i disagree with dolan. Its like a waste of time but most of the thing said was about computer time n wasting time but not partying.
The A Vision of Students Today video was very interesting. it displayed alot of the problems today in college but then there were alot of things that didnt apply to me. yes i am guilty of facebooking in class and not being able to pay for books but if i do buy a book it will b open and i will use it. this video is true on a lot of points it has.
this vidoe shows why there is so much stress in college. with all the papers that have to be written and the finals and midtearms it can get to a person. paying for classes being a broke college students it all ties in together. this video help me to relize how much more organized i need to be.
As I watched the video and read the facts of the student in the class I begin to wonder how technology has heeded me back from my education. Looking back to the eight grade in 2004 when MySpace was first invited I started to use the computer more frequently, everyday coming home and login on to check who wanted to be my new friend for the day. Till it had become a daily part of my routine and shorting my homework hours slowly as time went on. Bring myself to ask the question I believe strongly stated in the video “how has technology saved us?”
I think the video gives great result from college students in the world today. It tell fact about how we are sidetracked by technology everyday and are unable to receive the message written down or told in front of use every day. Through 16 or more years of education the martial starts to repeat at one point or another but when asked why don’t we know the answer. It’s because we are doing other thing that distracts us from the learning like Facebook, email, TV, MySpace and etc. I liked the video because he open my eyes to what is going on in today’s education citizen and made me realize how I need to stop letting technology take away my education
I agree with samaria because am guilty of facebooking for time to time in class but I also believe that the video capture college student take about technology and education well
This vision of students today was an interesting video. That video pointed out true facts of the everyday life of college students and the daily obstacles they face. The beginning of the video had me confused for a while. As the video went on, I noticed the message of the students. All those messages that the students were saying are all true. A few of those statements apply to me. The video indicated that it is really time for a change and technology may be a key factor to this accomplishment.
College students have a heavy load they have to deal with such as exams, midterms, finals and retaining so much information. It could really over load a person. Most of those students are like a few of the students I’m in class with daily. Michael Wesch taught me something I would’ve never known. He taught me in away that I never would’ve learned an inspiring message. This video had an inspiring aspect on me. Michael’s video really opened my eyes to the one of the many problems our society suffers with. This will be one video that I would never forget, thanks to Mr. Michael Wesch’s A Vision of Students Today video.
I agree with Shanquell & Ms. Boudreaux they both had good points about college students...All college students should do what they have to do and that wasting your money on books you would never use.
I am not surprised about the things that i seen in Miachel Wesch's viedo. The comments that were stated was true. Money issues, noisy classrooms, textbook problems, being known as a number instead of your name are the problems college student face. Mnay students wiil be in a certain large anount of debit when they graduate. Some students have begun their journey with that issue already and its only the first semester of school. Because of less hours to work students dont have much money to get things that the need or that they would like.
Many teachers requires students to buy books that they don't teach out of. That is a waste of students money because they could get the things that they need instead of a book that they won't use. Books usually range from forty to three hundred dollars or more. Students are faced with rude classmates and teachers that don't care about the type of situation the student is in. Some classes are loud where the students that want to learn can't hear. This put other students in a bad situation in a class that they paid for their money to learn in. This viedo showed a good example of how some colleges classrooms are conducted.
The video displays the individual work ethic of college students and day to day issues. Whether the problem is study issues, financial issues or personal issues, individuals need to excel at with what they got.On a personal level, I can agree with some of video because I'm going through some of the same issues as some of the college students. For example, paying tuition and balancing my personal life with my studies. As a fellow college student, I can relate to some of the issues in the video, but I increased my work ethics to not worry about those problems. The issues in the video was informative.
College students need to realize that coming to college increases work ethics. In addition, the obstacles we face ;we take them head on. Taking obstacles head on shows determination of accomplishing your goals.Personal issues and other things, college students should just remained focused. Also, what's failed to be understood, is that one could do all the other things of having fun by simply completing their work ahead of time. This video informs college students to remain goal accompanied and focused.
I have to disagree with Kirshla on the matter of books. If a professor wouldn't teach out of the book, that means its up to you to educate yourself on the matter and excel. Everything in life is not going to be handed down to you.
I agree with Monique as well on the matter of technology. With overwhelming technology an activities can become quite distracting to an individuals studies.

Watching the video further, I then realize that Michael Wesch wanted us to understand that in college people will face obstacles. The students hold up each sign expressing themselves as a student. One sign said that he or she paid a lot of money for books and it was a waste of time; I would say, that is a typical thing college student goes threw. I agree with colby, because as an college student we will face hard times. Life is not about giving up and not pressing forward; its about striving for excellent. Colby made a comment about studying issues; indeed i believe with lack of focusing and not balancing time management, he or she can have problems in studying and finding ways to get study done in their free time. It is important as an college student that we take our free time in concideration. I know at times we don't feel like doing school work, but it really helps. I think colby mention study issues because some people have trouble studying because he or she is afraid of missing things, in other words; being left out. Balancing time can help with studying, and also finding your method of studying can improve study issues.
I agree with everyone, becasue Michael Wesch showed different varities of what goes on in college. As an student he showed how half of your class mates don't take school seriously; such as not showing up for class, and not paying attention. The video cover basic materials a college students face daily. A comment by colby not agreeing with Kirshla about text book; I would say indeed true, because we are adults now, and not alot of times we would need a book for a given time, but it is helpful at times. The reason why i said it's helpful; because in my biology class i don't have a book, and inorder for me to understand the material i know i will need it enventually. My method was not buying the book, and instead find someone who's major is biology and borrow from them, so that i don't have to waste money on a book knowing i would not used it again. The video was a life experience as a college student; Facing obstacles as an adult; basically, preparing you for the outside world, and being able to handle hard problems.
October 12,2009, as I watch the video on you tube called “A Vision of Students Today” I feel like a lot of the topics or visions of other students were relating to me. I felt like all of that informatiion was true because there are class that are over pact or two small in the students can’t fit causing students to sit on the floor are feel as though they don’t have to show up at all. Students in college show up late because of some unknown reason have to sit at the top of the class room and the chalkboard or board is way at the bottom and the teacher is talking to fast were the student can’t here an they miss out on a lot of important information just because they can not see the board or understand the teacher. For example at Dillard Univeristy classes are full and sometimes I wasn’t able to take a class I really wanted such as Spanish. In some university the building are not fix wholes in the walls and everything else , but tution is so high I began to wonder were is the money going to. In the video “ A Vision of Students Today there was a quote that said “ if the walls could talk; what would they say” at my Unversity I feel as if my walls could talk they would talk about the history because the college is so old and as a student of Dillard University I almost get presense of the past student. The video that Micheal Wesch made had gave a new perspected on how students in college feel about the University that her university should update they way of teaching their students.
Some of the things I didn’t agree about Micheal Wesch video was that I think the some of the student did not understand they were in college and ofcousre the work load is going to be hard.Task of being in college is hard and students should work harder than what they did in high school because forms the student for the real world. The books on the the other I don’t agree on why be so high if I am only going to use it a semester that will never make any sense to me or any that going to college it should be cover with tution. In some teachers request for student to get books that they don’t teach out of that doesn’t make any since, but they make sure you know it require for the students to get the book and that for me is nonsense. Overall Micheal Wesch showed me that you have to be ready for anything and to adjust to anything, and that with the new technology teachers should get the plan and via email assignment, check homework assignment , and make the lecture relate to this stage an age.
I have to agree with kirshla i wasn't really surpise on most of what Micheal Wesch was trying to put across,I had understanding on books that student have to buy but don't use it's really annoying. The money issue and classes being noise all issue that i got from the video, because college a force that should be with a strong approach.I got that between me and Kirshla we got some important fact out of the video and their were some objects that we already have a good understanding for. Also I think that I agree with Kirshla and Nicole college can be a waste of money, but I also disagree with them both because when your done with college it pays of it is better than having just a dipolma from high school.
As I watched Michael Wesch's, YouTube Video, A Vision of Students Today, and followed along by reading the facts of the student in the class. I begin to wonder in a thought of how technology has heeded me back from my education. Looking back to the eight grade in 2004 when MySpace was first invited I started to use the computer more frequently, everyday coming home and login on to check who wanted to be my new friend for the day. Till it had become a daily part of my routine and shorting my homework hours slowly as time went on. Bringing myself to ask the question I believe strongly stated in the video “how has technology saved us?” I believe the video is trying to stress the lack of active listening showed in today’s classrooms. The video shows how we are sidetracked by technology everyday and are unable to receive the message written down or told in front of us every day. Through 16 or more years of education the martial starts to repeat at one point or another but when asked to recite it why don’t we know the answer. It’s because we are doing other thing that distracts us from the learning like Facebook, email, TV, MySpace and etc. I liked the video because he open my eyes to what is going on in today’s educational citizen and made me realize how I need to stop letting technology take away my education
I agree with Kirshla about the statements in the video being true.Stating that money is one of the number one issue that students are not focus.Textbooks that no one reads or teach out are a waste of time and money. And this cycle continues to go on till graduation day.
The video brang out a different perpespective than just the outside looking in. We as college students are recommended to get a certain amount of sleep in order be successful in class the next day when really thats not possible because we are studying for 3 hours and then doing homework for another two hours. Going to bed a resonable time is not possible. This video exposed the not so bright side of going to college.
I like the fact that he filmed this video from a students point of view because we do bring laptops to class and rarely ever do anything on them that pertains to the assignment or even the subject of the class. There are students who are paying grands a semester and never come to class whther it be due to lack of sleep the night before, or laziness. Also, Some classes are so crowded to the point where what is being written on the board is not even visable to the student sitting in the back of the class. Things are aren't as peachy as the media/ movies make it seem. Being a college student is a struggle.
I personally think that Micheal Wesch's video was very intersting. It explained exactly what goes on in colleges or classes.
ReplyDeleteCollege students need to realize that coming to college increases work ethics.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Monique as well on the matter of technology. With overwhelming technology an activities can become quite distracting to an individuals studies.
ReplyDeleteMy reactions to Michael Wesch, vision of students today was an interesting look.
ReplyDeleteWhen I seen the students holding the sign of what he or she do. At first, I didn’t understand the point of holding the sign up. Another one said that she is an multitask worker, and she has to be; I said to myself, I wonder why she made that statement. Some students procrastinate on work assignment, or any other important things that need to be done on a particular day. Watching the video was an interesting fact; Mr. Wesch wanted to portray a everyday life of a college student.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone, becasue Michael Wesch showed different varities of what goes on in college.

ReplyDeleteOctober 12,2009, as I watch the video on you tube called “A Vision of Students Today” I feel like a lot of the topics or visions of other students were relating to me.
ReplyDeleteSome of the things I didn’t agree about Micheal Wesch video was that I think the some of the student did not understand they were in college and ofcousre the work load is going to be hard.Task of being in college is hard and students should work harder than what they did in high school because forms the student for the real world.
ReplyDeleteAs I watched Michael Wesch's, YouTube Video, A Vision of Students Today, and followed along by reading the facts of the student in the class. Bringing myself to ask the question I believe strongly stated in the video “how has technology saved us?”
ReplyDeleteI believe the video is trying to stress the lack of active listening showed in today’s classrooms.
ReplyDeleteThe video brang out a different perpespective than just the outside looking in. We as college students are recommended to get a certain amount of sleep in order be successful in class the next day when really thats not possible because we are studying for 3 hours and then doing homework for another two hours. Going to bed a resonable time is not possible. This video exposed the not so bright side of going to college.
ReplyDeleteI like the fact that he filmed this video from a students point of view because we do bring laptops to class and rarely ever do anything on them that pertains to the assignment or even the subject of the class.
