I blame parents and also peer for suicides in some cases. Some parents hold their children up to standards that they shouldn’t which stress their children out. Their peers also peer pressure them into being someone they aren’t. I think that such deaths can be eliminated by parents not pushing their kids so hard and letting them be themselves. When parents train their children correctly they shouldn’t worry about setting the standards for them. I also believe that if kids would not push their peers to be something they are not the teenage suicide rate would drop tremendously.
Crystal Johnson Monday, November 23, 2009 English 110 Journal Journal Entry Whom (or what) do you blame for teenage suicides such as the one the poem describes? How might such deaths be eliminated?
I would blame peers at schools because if you’re weak people look at it as they can walk all over you. Schools have levels within levels first you will start with the new comers, nerds, band geeks, jocks, cheerleaders, and the last group the popular group. Many schools have these expectation were many student fall into. For example if I was a new comer in I was not apart of any of these clicks, I begin to be in outsider and an outsider never has back up in they are easily single out by other group. Your peers at school form you are they break you, they put pressure on you sometimes not knowing and at other on purpose. Some times it doesn’t matter how much you try to fit in peers will still pick on you and that cause a child or a teenage to feel depressed. By feeling depressed a teenager is capable of doing almost anything .
In addition, a teenager with suicidal intention I would also blame the parents and family just like the poem “Suicide Note” by Janice Mirikitani. Family and parent have a lot to do with teenager committing suicide because when they want their children to succeed they may think by putting more pressure on them they might work harder. When parent take care of their children giving them rules and fun time (a break) children can develop a habit of control and can be able to stay focus on succeeding. I also think if parent spend a little more time with their children in talk about problems that are occurring with school work, instead of yelling in trying to be harder on them they can see that mom and dad care.
Teenagers commiting suicide is an mental issue with in a person. I blame the teen who is thinking or wishing to commit suicide, because each and every person is dealing with something an their life that they can hold on to or let go. I blame the individual because it is not always the parents faught or gaurdian for their actions they place in their life. Sometimes parents plays apart in teens action but it is up to that person to know what is right and what is wrong. also, i feel that if a person is going threw something that he or she needs to take action and get the necessary help. Deaths can be eliminated an them asking for help, such as thearpy, talking to someone that can understand what they are feeling, doing things to keep their minds of the problem, and prayer. God can brake bad situations in life when a person believes that he can perform miracles. Prayer helps relieving anger and depression because I believe that God is an awesome man, who is the only person that truly understand and knows the real me.
I disagree and agree with kirshla, because sometimes parents does do right by their kids and some of them do not come out the same how their parents raise them. As of peer pressure i can agree with kids pushing their peers into doing things they wish not to do but I disagree of how it can make them commit suicide. It is a mental thing from with in and certain teens does not commit suicide from their peers.
I agree with crystal becuase it is indeed true that when you are an outsider and you don't fit in the group that can lead into depression and not caring foryourself. Also, parents needs to show kids how much they care and show it is ok to be normal and not fit in and be something your not.
Many suicides are a result from either neglect or abuse from parents. Some parents overwork their children. This can lead to high levels of anxiety. Some teenagers usually suffer physical or verbal abuse, when they do not meet their parents' high expectations. As a result, abused teenagers may see suicide as a way to get away from the abuse. Also neglect is another contributing factor of suicide, neglected teenagers are usually depressed or unappreciated by their parents. There are many ways to prevent suicide. Parents can talk to their children instead of at them. Parents can spend more time with children. Teenagers can talk about issues with their parents and resolve them. Therapy is another option to consider.
I agree with kirshla because parents usually push their children too far. Also peers can also stress an individual to a point where he or she would want to commit suicide.
I blame parents because sometimes they push their child to be a certain way. His or her child then will feel pressured to do a certain things in school and to be and act a certain way, so after a while they feel like they cannot take the pressure anymore. Putting certain standards on their child will cause them to stress out. I also blame peers, the community, and the image on television. Teens try to persuade another person to do something that is wrong. Watching people in the community and television can out things in a girl or boy mind that you have to look a certain way so they will do whatever it takes to look that way.
I blame the individual for suicide. I feel that the blame can’t be put on anyone but that individual. One must know how much pressure they can take, and should be able to set limits. The person may move slower than others, but the pressure of family, one’s self, and peers make it hard to get tasks done consistently. I feel that parents set such high standards for their children only because they want their children to succeed and do better than they did. Still, they cannot be blamed because they don’t pull the trigger, push their children off of bridges, put pills in their mouths, or force any type of harm on their children. Furthermore, such deaths could be eliminated by the individuals taking it easy. We should stop stressing over the small things and live life one day at a time. As humans most of us worry about pleasing people instead of ourselves. Although parents may want their children to succeed they have to understand and realize that by stressing their children out, they are only pushing in the thoughts that life isn’t worth living if they fail. This is not saying that they shouldn’t care, but they need to concentrate more on their achievements rather than their mistakes. I believe that a little bit of encouragement and praise could save a life.
I can't say that there is someone else no other than the person who commits suicide to blame. Many teenagers commit suicide because of personal reasons. There is never one specific reason for why teenagers commit suicide. As teenagers, we go through many personal situations and many can't handle the pressure. Once teenagers become teens, they are faced with many new challenges. The teen may have been up against verbal or non verbal abuse, but it is up to him or her to deal with it. Some teens can’t deal with it and move on, so they look as committing suicide as a way out.
Suicide could be avoided, if the person who is thinking about committing suicide would talk to someone. If people, such as teenagers are thinking about committing suicide; then they should go and talk to a family member or a counselor to help them try to remove those thoughts. If he or she is embarrassed to talk to strangers, well go to his or her parent or friends and tell them. Some help is better than no help at all; therefore, suicide will be eliminated.
I blame the individual them self and their parents.Sometimes parents have expectations of children and they sometimes treat their children unkindly. It is not the child's fault that they are the way they are. This could force the child into a state of insanity. For example, a mom trying trying to change her child because of his or her sexuality. By a mother not accepting their child could drive their child to suicide.
Through a child's personal development and personal life style's he or she should have the initiative to not let any obstacle prevent him or her from being happy. If more kids today would have that drive then any child would ever think about committing suicide.Parents should love their children for who they are and not what they become regardless of standards.Parents should have a relationship with their children and let their children know that they love them. Personally, this is what I think causes teenage suicides.
I blame the individual for suicide because nothing in this world should make ypu want to kill yourself. If your problem is that bad you should go and talk to someone before you even think about killing yourself.I think A way suicide could be eliminated is by the parents talking to their children more and asking them if they are having problems are going through something, but suicide shouldn't ever comes to someone mind because its wrong nad it shouldn't be something you turn to if something is wrong are something bad is going on.
I blame parents and also peer for suicides in some cases. Some parents hold their children up to standards that they shouldn’t which stress their children out.
